MJ Green is an award winning expert in economic development, specializing in fostering growth within credit unions, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and governmental economic initiatives. Currently serving as the Chief of Economic Development & Strategy for the Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami (Miami DDA), Michaeljohn is dedicated to advancing Miami's economic prosperity.
With a background as Deputy Director of Innovation and Economic Development for Miami-Dade County Office of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Michaeljohn brings a wealth of experience to his role. His journey began at Harris Stowe University, where he studied Management Information Systems and Economics, later delving into grassroots community work at ACORN.
Passionate about financial empowerment, he transitioned to top financial institutions like Bank of America Merrill Lynch, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, and The Bank of Montreal, honing his expertise in wealth management. Motivated by a desire to create opportunities in minority communities, he co-founded the Africa Town Land Trust and led the establishment of a CDFI in Opa Locka.
As CEO and Fund Manager of the Community Fund of North Miami Dade, he made significant impacts on small businesses, notably launching the RISE Fund during the pandemic, which saved thousands of jobs in Miami-Dade County.
Michael john's commitment to community service is evident through his various board positions and accolades, including the Dorien Maxwell Award for Community Impact and recognition as one of the 40 most influential African Americans in Miami.
